“You’ve gained weight”
In other words: “You’re fat.”
This is often directed towards women, giving them an impression that their physical appearance is the only thing people notice about them.
However, this statement is far from complimentary as it can be emotionally damaging and create a psychological burden. No one wants to be overweight, and everyone has a unique genetic makeup.
Moreover, there is no shame in being plus-sized; what matters most is that individuals are healthy and feel good in their own bodies.
Therefore, instead of focusing solely on physical appearances, it’s better to greet someone and move on if you have nothing else to say.
Let’s strive to be more compassionate and mindful of the impact our words have on others.
