The Running Billboard

I am but a running billboard.
I run through Ojobi, sprint past Buduatta, jog in Dominase, and hop along Dabanyi with a sip of sunshine. The red earth gives me a piggyback, and ancient trees that bear the history of our culture drop a little confetti here and there wherever I manage to go.
A whisper in my dark skin says, “Just do it.”
But what exactly am I doing?
I’m running to find solace, to gain clarity, and to diffuse the haziness that shrouds my creative intellect. But it goes beyond that. I run to proclaim the goodwill of books, to seek disciples who love to spread the seeds of wisdom, and to find tots who desire knowledge to crawl out of the quiescence of despair.
If you feel the howl of the wind behind me or hear the songs of the chicks that dart across the streets before me, let’s join hands and drive away mediocrity, deprivation, and ignorance.
Let’s run for books.
